Telemark-Only Festival

Celebrate the turn in a strictly free heel event

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to ski at a resort with just telemark skiers? From May 1-5, 2019 in Schilthorn, Switzerland telemark skiers from around the world will experience exactly that during the 4th annual Telemark-Only festival. “Mürren and Schilthorn are very beautiful places with a long history of skiing,” said event organizer Paul Flück. “It’s the perfect place to celebrate Telemark-Only, which is unique because it’s an event with only telemark skiers.”

With over 500 telemarkers in attendance last year, Telemark-Only gives these skiers the opportunity to fully enjoy the vibrant community of telemark, and most importantly, drop some knees together. A history lesson will also be provided Saturday night with a showing of The Awakening, a presentation by Ace Kvale. This film documents the early days on leather boots, 3 pin bindings, and straight skis in the big mountains of Verbier, Switzerland.

Festival activities include Apres parties, live music, and dinners. In addition, there will be various workshops where skiers can hone their skills or learn new ones. Free NTN telemark demos will also be available from Rottefella, 22 Designs, The M Equipment, Scott, Scarpa and Crispi so skiers can try out different gear.
